Our workshop instructor, Barbara Rozavsky, HonNEC, has been a member of GLPA since 1971. She has served as secretary, vice president, and president at various times and is currently the membership chair and group leader for our Fundamentals Group. Barbara also taught a basic camera course at North Shore Community College for more than 30 years.
Part 1: Topics to be covered include the four factors that affect exposure: available light, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture along with what each control. Next is an explanation of metering modes followed by program modes including manual mode. In addition, there will be a discussion of histograms, the exposure triangle, and exposure compensation, all of which help you get properly exposed images.
Part 2: After answering everyone’s questions relating to Part 1, the discussion will then turn to lenses: what the lens specs mean, when to use various focal lengths, and how to change them. Also included is a comparison of how sensor size affects the focal length (crop factor). This portion of the course will also touch on using filters to enhance your images. The workshop will conclude with a session on downloading images to your computer and how to resize your images. If there is time, there will be a
Q & A block.
