Portrait Group

(available to members only)

The Portrait Group is open to any member of Greater Lynn interested in Model or Portraiture Photography. Meetings will be scheduled three months a year on the months that the club does not have a Model Session day planned. Please check the schedule on the left side panel of this page for planned dates for the year. This group is open to all members, beginners to experienced photographers.

The meetings will take place in the lower level of the camera club in our smaller meeting room.  Since the group is only for members we expect a smaller more intimate group. For those just starting out or that might like some pointers, this will be a great way for you to learn about lighting and help you improve your portrait skills.

Skip will provide handouts on how different portrait lighting should be set up with the hope that you will then be able to take what you have learned and apply it to your own setups at home at a future time. We will make the necessary adjustments in the teaching material as the year progresses to improve the group’s knowledge and skills.

Group members will be asked to participate in setting up and arranging the various lighting scenarios at each meeting. This will differ from our modeling sessions on Sundays where you are not allowed to reposition the lighting. Try your hand and sharpen your skills at arranging the lighting, backgrounds and models. The club will provide lights and backgrounds on the meeting nights. Professional models will not be provided. Participants will be asked to serve as models during the group meetings.

Come down and join us for a fun, hands-on evening. Meet other GLPA members interested in portraiture on a smaller scale.
