The most popular night of the year is over, and the women’s team prevailed, taking the trophy away from the men. The hall was filled to capacity with boisterous members, noisemakers and munchies. A sea of red came from the women’s side, as that was the color choice for the night. Our judges Sarah Musumeci, MNEC, and Don Toothaker did a great job of looking at all the finer points of the images and some of the not so fine points. It was a nail-biter with the win-or-lose decision coming down to the last image, Window Display. The women won it, and the nights’ judging was done.
Now, onto the second part of the Smackdown, the dinner. Due to scheduling difficulties, there was not a celebration dinner last year, so this year’s dinner is for both years. If you participated in the Smackdown for 2011 or 2012, you are invited to join us for the dinner. Since the men won last year, and the women this year, everyone will be paying for his or her own meal. Our regular “Saturday Night Social” chief Dave Parsons, MNEC, will not be available that night to cook for us. Chris Germain, MNEC, our official party planner, has taken over as our chef for the night. The menu will be an Italian buffet from Spinelli’s. The cost is $15 per person for food and drinks. Please get your name/money in to your team leaders—Women’s: Kilmer Sweazy and Men’s: Frank Goodhue—by Sunday, March 18. We will also post a sign-up sheet in the back of the hall, or you can e-mail socials@greaterlynnphoto.org to sign up through the club Web site. Please note that if you sign up and cannot come, you need to cancel by March 18 also. Once the count for the food has gone into the restaurant on Monday, March 19, it cannot be changed. There will be no refunds after that date. If you sign up but have not paid yet and do not attend, you will still be required to pay. We must pay for the food count we give the restaurant. In other words, if you are on the list when the count goes in to Spinelli’s, you pay whether you attend or not.
This will be a fun night so plan on joining us for the celebration!
